Kate Christensen
Kate is a qualified k-12 music educator whose main instrument is the clarinet. After 4 years in the classroom she's excited to shift gears and teach in a smaller setting.
As part of her Bachelor's of Music in Music Education Kate studied clarinet at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. While she plays clarinet at a professional level, she also has a rudimentary knowledge of all band and orchestra instruments. She tailors private lessons to her students interests and needs as clarinetists. This could involve starting from ground zero and learning how to produce a great sound, or refining abilities focused on tone quality, fingerings, or similar details.
Kate also enjoys playing piano and loves teaching beginning students. In addition to teaching music notation she emphasizes singing in her teaching as an important tool for young students.
Kate is originally from Portland, Oregon and recently moved from Provo, Utah to the Cedar Falls area. She loves places that are green and driving by the cedar river is always the highlight of her day.
